Yorkshire Dyslexia offers tuition to children and adults. We are able to deliver a specific dyslexia programme or can provide dyslexia friendly subject tuition. Our adult literacy sessions are aimed at adults with low literacy skills who would like to improve their reading or writing.

Maria Cosgrove is an experienced teacher specialising in SEN (Special Educational Needs) within mainstream schools, with a focus on primary aged pupils. She is currently studying at Manchester Metropolitan University for an MA in Specific Learning Difficulties.
Maria has 25 years of experience in education including 11 years as a teacher (7 years as a SENCo) in a multicultural, urban primary school in Manchester. She has also worked as a Learning Needs Teacher and a Learning Strategy Office for Manchester LA, providing support, advice and training to schools on meeting individual needs, including training on dyslexia friendly classrooms. For the last 4 years Maria has worked as a specialist teacher teaching primary aged pupils, and some secondary, with reading and spelling difficulties, including dyslexia, on a 1:1 basis. She is committed to providing individualised learning programmes taking into account pupil strengths, areas for development, preferred learning styles and interests. Maria’s aim is to ensure pupils reach their potential through enjoyable and successful learning experiences, improving reading and spelling skills and helping to develop confidence and self-esteem.
